Since this is my first blog on my life changing journey, I thought I would tell you how this all came about.
I have always struggled with my weight. I had heard a commercial on the radio stating that they were going to do this contest to help people have a healthier lifestyle and I thought what a great idea. This contest reminds me of the t.v. show "The Biggest Loser". We not only workout but we also have to teach ourselves a whole different lifestyle. This involves our diet, workout, and mindset. I will share what each of these mean to me. I started at the weight of 360 pounds. I then lost ten pounds before I first weighed in for the challenge. As of today I weigh 319 pounds and I feel good.
Diet:
Before this life changing quest, I ate anything and everything. I didn't care about how much water I drank or how many calories I was eating. Now I have been rethinking my way of eating by going on the south beach diet. It is not really a "DIET", but a way of life. I am in phase one. I eat mainly proteins and vegetables while watching my caloric intake. I am still a caffeine junkie, but I do incorporate more water in my life now too. With my future blogs I will be including what I eat for that day.
Workout:
Now that I have access to the gym I workout Monday through Friday at five am every morning. It is a great start to the day by getting your endorphins running. I take power kickboxing and yoga on Wednesday evenings as well as trying to get a body pump class in whenever I can. On Thursday nights I go to a personal training session with my other teammates from the radio station. On Saturdays I walk with a friend who is super supportive and calls herself my biggest fan. On Sundays I rest.
When I workout a five in the morning. I team up with my workout buddy Tammy. Tammy, Sabrina and I are on Team Chrissy. You will hear more about them as the days go on.
Mindset:
Referring back to the show the biggest loser. There is a lot of emotions that run with changing how you eat and live. I have noticed that I am much happier now that I have started working out, I have made some great new friends at the gym, and I have started looking at myself as a better person. I do admit I have times of frustration and depression, but that is a part of life.
In closing, I just want to say how grateful I am to the radio station "KYSN" for giving me this opportunity for a better/healthier life. I will keep you updated as my progress continues.
